Business Cards
When preparing business cards for printing, remember the following:
1. Maintain at least an 1/8 of an inch of open space from the edges of your design and any text or graphic elements.
2. Don’t use type smaller than 7 points, and the smallest type should be for your address.
3. Choose your paper wisely. The paper you choose can say more about you than the information on the card.
-
Envelopes
1. Generally speaking, envelope designs cannot include bleed. If you want to include bleed, be sure to contact us so we can help you set up your design for success.
2. When setting up your design be sure to include a 1/4 to 1/2 inch border around all elements to ensure smooth printing.
3. Some papers are readily available as matching envelopes. Others, less so. When planning a mailing, be sure to consider the ease by which you can get envelopes to help save money for a project.
-
Brochures
1. When laying out a folded brochure design, be sure to keep in mind where the fold lines will be. Nothing looks worse than cutting off a sentence at mid-fold.
2. On a standard letter size brochure the fold lines occur at 3 and 2/3 inches and 7 and 1/3 inches. We find it quicker and easier to measure those lines at 93 and 186 millimeters respectively.
3. Don’t forget to leave an open space for an address if you intend to mail your brochure. And, ask us how we can use VDP printing to make your mailing as smooth and simple as possible.

Binder Assembly
1. Remember to include a 1/2 inch margin on the binding edge of your project. Not doing so can lead to cut off sentences, missing words, and holes in your arguments.
2. You’ve spent a lot of time creating the material inside your binder, but don’t neglect the cover. A custom printed binder with your company’s logo and information can make a great first impression and wow your customers and clients.
3. Custom printed divider tabs can give your project a clean professional look. Ask us how we can set these up for your next binder our bound job.
