Strolling through the Internet this week we have come across quite a few stories and events that have us excited.
First up, the big event around the Philadelphia area this week is of course the Philly Folk Festival. The event is always fun and this year’s lineup will certainly not disappoint. Big names like Dan Bern, Arlo Guthrie and many more will be on stage as well as numerous other artists. No doubt a great time.
Did a yacht designer invent the font Times New Roman? We were intrigued to find this article on The Daily that delves into the history of the font Times New Roman. We’re definitely font-lovers here at cutpasteandprint, and one of the reasons why is stories such as this one. So much history and mystery behind a simple typeface. The story expounds the theory that the creator of Times New Roman was not the British typographer Stanley Morrison, but American inventor and yacht designer William Starling Burgess. Wow!
And speaking of design history, here is a great post from the Imprint blog touching on the history and origins of clip art. Where would all of our designer friends be without clip art? Good fun.
Of course we also came across plenty of design inspiration as well. A choice favorite this week are these vintage food advertisements from Agence Eureka.
