Paper is an idea, not just a package. When you select a paper you are choosing a voice that will communicate to your customers and audience. So what is it saying?

Everyone seems to know that they want a nice heavy paper for their business card – something weighty and solid with nice texture. Is the paper a little bit thick, or is it wildly thick like a piece of wood? Is the surface smooth, or fibrous? Will it slide easily into a pocket and be forgotten? Pulled out after a trip through a washing machine to be puzzled on for a second or two before being tossed in the garbage?

Or is it an object to be encountered, an item that will transfer its substance right into the memory of your customer. Will they subconsciously understand that you are a person that cares about details, sweats the small stuff, and goes the extra mile to make things not only good, but great?
