Postcard Power

Spring is finally taking over, and Summer is right around the corner.  If you are ready to start marketing your warm weather events there is no time like the present. And there is no print marketing tool like the postcard.

Quick, Efficient, Economical

Postcards are one of the simplest and easy to produce print marketing materials available. A post card puts your design and information right into your customer’s hand with no envelope or anything else in between. They are easy to hand out at events, and they are also inexpensive for mass mailing.

Available in All Sizes

The traditional post card measures 4″ x 6″. This is the standard size of a card you may have received from a vacationing relative. It makes it easy to cling to a refrigerator or bulletin board most anywhere. But it isn’t the only size option.

Postcards can be produced in larger sizes of 5 x 7 or 6 x 8. Or even giant sizes of up to 8.5 x 11 for maximum mailing visibility. Of course, different sizes can incur different mailing costs, so it is always good to come to postcard design with a plan and a budget.

Paper is an Idea

Consider all of the mail and handouts you’ve gotten in your life. Are any of them memorable? What made them that way?

One thing we encourage all designers to really think about is what paper stock they will use for their postcards. Is 100 pound cover a good choice, or would the added weight of a double-thick 120 pound or 130 pound cover help your postcard stick out?

Beyond that there are all kinds of choices. Gloss or matte? Smooth or textured? As always we encourage you to go wild and explore the possibilities.

Choose Sides

One-sided postcards can be a great way to really spotlight the information you need to. One image, one design, all seen and experienced in one shot. We are also big fans of adding a handwritten note to the back of postcard when they are mailed out.

Of course 2-sided postcards also have their advantages. They give a lot more room for information, and double the opportunity for an impactful design.
